PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc released its unaudited financial statement for the first quarter of the year (Q1, 2021) ended 31st of August 2021.

  • Revenue for the period was N22.2 billion (+18.7% YoY).
  • Cost of sales stood at N16.52 billion. (+19.6% YoY)
  • Administrative expenses totalled N1.81 billion. (+2.4% YoY)
  • An operating profit of N1.51 billion was recorded during the period (+99.3% YoY)
  • Profit for the period was N231.09 million. (+208.8% YoY)
  • Earnings per share of 6 kobo. (+220% YoY)
  • Operating margin of 7% Vs 4% YoY.

PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc released its consolidated financial statements for the year ended 31st of May, 2021.

  • Revenue for the period was N82.6 billion. (+23% YoY)
  • Cost of sales stood at N59.5 billion. (+2% YoY)
  • Administrative expenses totalled N6.5 billion. (+19.3% YoY)
  • An operating profit of N1.19 billion was generated.
  • Profit after tax was N1.7 billion. (+124% YoY)
  • Earnings per share of 37 kobo (+121% YoY).

PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc: Notice of Board Meeting

PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has announced that it will be hosting a Board meeting in Lagos on the 26th of August, 2021.

This is according to a notice issued by the company and sent to the Nigerian Exchange Group Limited today.

According to the notice, the meeting will enable the Board Directors to consider the company’s audited financial statement for the year ended 31st of May, 2021. Decisions reached at the meeting will be subsequently communicated.

In addition, the firm also announced that it has commenced a closed period from 1st of June 2021 until 24 hours after the company’s financial statement and outcome of the board meeting have been made public in line with the Rulebook of the Nigerian Exchange Limited.

  • Administrative expenses totalled N6.85 billion. (+25.0% YoY)
  • Operating profit was N6.97 billion. (+198.6% YoY)
  • Profit after tax was N1.8 billion. (+125.3% YoY)
  • Earnings per share of 46 kobo. (+125.3% YoY)
  • Net profit margin was 2.2% Vs -11% YoY.
  • Quick ratio of 0.8 Vs 0.6 YoY.

Georgios Sotiropoulos resigns as a Director from the Board of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc.

The Board of Directors of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has announced the resignation of Mr. Georgios Sotiropoulos, as Executive Director of the company, effective from 31st of May, 2021.

This disclosure was made in a notification signed by the Company’s Secretary, Jacqueline Ezeokwelume, and sent to the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Group Limited.

According to the notice, the Board considered and approved the resignation request tendered by the aforementioned Director.

What you should know

According to his LinkedIn profile, Sotiropoulos joined PZ Cussons Group in 1999 and served in various leadership positions for over 22 years, rising to the position of Managing Director (Africa Supply Chain).

He was appointed to the Board as an Executive Director on 22nd of March, 2018. He is an alumnus of the University Of Birmingham, UK where he obtained a Masters in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration.

PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc appoints Ifueko Okauru as Independent Non-Executive Director.

The Board of Directors of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc has announced the appointment of Mrs Ifueko Omoigui Okauru as Independent Non-Executive Director of the company effective from 1st of April, 2021.

This is according to a notification signed by the company’s secretary, Jacqueline Ezeokwelume and seen by Nairametrics.

Profile

Mrs Okauru is a chartered accountant, strategy and change management consultant with a stellar profile in the public and private sectors. She spent over a decade at Arthur Andersen & Co, where she led the firm’s successful strategy practice. Subsequently, she emerged as the first female Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS). She currently serves on the boards of MTN Nigeria Plc and Nigerian Breweries Plc.

She is an alumna of prestigious institutions like the University of Lagos, Imperial College of London and Harvard Kennedy School, where she obtained a BSc in Accounting, MSc and MPA respectively.
