2021 HY Results: GSK Plc profit after tax slumps by over 80.3% to N59.91 million.

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc released its unaudited financial results for the period ended 30th June, 2021.

  • Revenue for the period was N9.9 billion (-5.46% YoY)
  • Cost of sales was N7.09 billion. (-7.5% YoY)
  • Administrative expenses totalled N1.01 billion. (+13.3% YoY)
  • Profit after tax for the period was N59.91 million. (-80.3% YoY)
  • Earnings per share of 5 kobo Vs 25 kobo YoY.

GlaxoSmithKline Plc appoints Amina Salihu as Director

The Board of Directors of GlaxoSmithKline Plc (GSK) has announced the appointment of Dr Amina Salihu into its Board, as an independent non-executive Director, effective from 28th of May, 2021.

This is according to a disclosure signed by the company’s secretary, Uche Uwechia and sent to the Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX).

Dr Salihu is a renowned consultant, social entrepreneur and feminist. She is a Senior Program Officer with the MacArthur Foundation Africa Office. She is also a member of the Governing Council of Ekiti State University (EKSU) and a coordinator of the Ministry of Finance Technical Working Group on gender, employment and disability inclusion for the Nigeria Agenda 2050 policy development process.

She is an alumna of the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University where she obtained her B.SC. and M.Sc degrees in Political Science. She also obtained further degree (PhD) from the University of Abuja.

Given her background and diverse experiences, the Board of GSK expressed optimism that her addition would bring significant value and diversity to the team.

In another development, the Board also announced the resignation of Mr Uchenna Uwechia as the company secretary and legal director, effective from 1st of June, 2021. His resignation was duly accepted by the Board, after 15 years of meritorious service.

In a bid to fill the vacuum created by the departure of Mr Uwechia, the Board named Mr Frederick Ichekwai as the acting secretary of the company. He will provide leadership for the company secretariat pending further resolutions.

GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc released its unaudited results for the first quarter of the year (Q1, 2021).

  • Revenue for the period was N3.5 billion. (-30.6% YoY)
  • Cost of sales was N2.4 billion. (-30.6% YoY)
  • Administrative expenses totalled N502.96 million. (+0.3% YoY)
  • Loss for the period was N238.07 million
  • Loss per share from continuing operations was 20 kobo.

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) announces Annual General Meeting.

The Board of Unilever GlaxoSmithKline Plc has announced that it will host its Annual General Meeting on the 27th of May, 2021.

According to a notice issued by the company and seen by Nairametrics, the meeting will hold at the company’s head office at 1 Industrial Avenue, Ilupeju-Lagos by 11:00am. Sequel to this, the following issues will be discussed;

  • To consider the audited financial statements of the company for the period ended 31st December 2020, and declare a dividend.
  • To fix Auditors and Directors remuneration for the year 2021.
  • To approve a general mandate authorizing the company to procure goods and services for its operational activities during the year, from related parties or interested persons on normal commercial terms consistent with the NSE Rules Governing Transactions.
  • To elect members of the audit committee.
  • To consider and ratify board appointments.

What you should know:

  • In line with CAC guidelines, the AGM will be conducted through the use of proxies. Sequel to this, a list of comprising of 8 proxies was made public the company, available for members (shareholders) to choose from.
  • Recall that GSK Plc had recently declared a profit after tax of N622.2 million in FY 2020.

Glaxo SmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc released its full-year results for the year ended 31st December 2020.

  • Revenue for the year was N21.3 billion. (+2.6% YoY)
  • Cost of sales was N15.4 billion. (+4.6% YoY)
  • Administrative expenses totaled N1.59 billion. (-17.6% YoY)
  • Profit after tax was N622.2 million. (-32.2% YoY)
  • Earnings per share of 52 kobo vs 77 kobo YoY.
  • A dividend of 40 kobo was proposed.
